Spring is in the air, and we're gearing up for a summer filled with projects and fun! Me and my buddy Matt have been busy bees, tackling all the stuff that needs to be done around the house. Our mission? Get everything sorted so we can get to the fun adventures.

The Marian Luther Home has been our base for the first two of weeks in May. We started with a big task: chopping up the remaining trees that got blown down during last summer's crazy windstorm. We found a wood splitter in the shed and went to town, turning those fallen giants into manageable logs. Once we had 'em all split, we loaded them up and hauled them to our shop on the Chena Marian runway. Come winter, we'll have plenty of firewood to keep us warm.

With the trees out of the way, it was time to tame those nasty thorn bushes that seemed to be taking over everything. Man, those things grow like crazy! But we weren't about to let 'em win. We grabbed our tools and went to work trimming the bushes around the house.

From there we begin the project of removing the moss from the roof. This was certainly much needed as there was a lot of moss and dirt that had accumulated on the roof over the years with the trees so close.

We began by using a leaf blower and blowing all loose debris off the roof following behind with a soft broom knocking loos moss off. While this took the majority we then treated the entire roof with a bleach solution insuring to kill all remaining moss. I also trimmed overhanging branches from the spruce tree to prevent them from damaging the roof further.

This needed to be done and now looks much better. There where a few soft spots and one spot where there was a hole in the roof that dose need to be addressed soon. I do plan on repairing that area and insuring it will no longer leak. Iastly I cleaned and repaired the trim that had fallen off of the front of the house.

Once we wrapped up the roof project, we shifted our focus to the path leading down to the river. Our moose pals had made themselves comfy in the backyard all winter long. It was nice having 'em around, but they did leave a mess! Moose poop was everywhere so we spent an afternoon raking and scooping up all that moose poop, so it's ready for summer fun.

Just when we thought we were done, we stumbled upon a surprise—a whole squirrel family had turned my RV into their cozy home! We had to evict those furry squatters right away. Let me tell you, it's a story I will share another time.

Now, with only a couple of things left on my to-do list, I'm feeling pretty good. On next weeks agenda I'll install that third hall light we've been meaning to put in. And last but not least, it's time for one last roof retreatment. Gotta make sure that moss stays away for good!

Thanks for joining me on this update, and stay tuned for more exciting tales from the Marian Luther Home. There's never a dull moment.
